The best content that is being created today is content that lives beyond the screen. It lives in people’s minds way past when they consume it. It’s content that is transformed and moulded by people. Remixed in the mind and sometimes physically too. Content that is thought about and talked about in social networks, texted on mobiles, tweeted, instagrammed, and personalised in every which way possible using the technologies made available to us. Content that is like a good piece of music that lingers in your mind way after you hear it and shapes your day and your dreams.

Since your video is probably not going to go viral on its own (or at all), you should consider buying some ads on YouTube. Fortunately, rates are pretty good compared to AdWords. Harmon says that right now search ads on YouTube are going for 50 cents per click vs. $1.50 per click on AdWords.

6 Best Practices For Small Business YouTube Marketing

There no longer is a world called OFFLINE. Young people send 3,146 texts per month, over 100 a day. They watch more than 100 online videos a month. And they spend 20 hours online every day — multitasking.

In addition, Google has recently made a series of moves that make it increasingly difficult for subpar content to get Google traffic. The Google Panda 2.0 and 2.5 search algorithm updates have been optimized to return premium, non-repetitive content that users will value after they search, pushing subpar content further down in search results

Has content become advertising for advertising? | Digital Media - CNET News (via mediafuturist)

An excellent article highlighting exactly where we are in the world of content, and what’s to come.  Content farms hit their “ceiling” a while back.  This may mean more work for content creators and advertisers,  but in the end audiences will actually engage with the content and everyone will win.

Music branding is not new. What is new for record labels is technology, and the growing need to leverage their acts across as many relevant touchpoints as possible.

Anyone reading my column over the years (or this tumblelog) know I have a lot of passion about brand content.  Although I missed the big Family Guy & Windows 7 event this sunday,  I spent some time looking for it online and found nothing but a few commercial-like videos on YouTube posted by Win741.  Is this the brand integrations from that show? Or teasers?  I don’t really know,  since there is not much explanation to be found.

This is where brand content can go wrong. Something that already has a brand integrated within the content should not only be posted all over the web (for people to find!),  but it should be posted in an acceptable manner. Every video uploaded is stretched and compressed incorrectly.  And if (for some reason) you find yourself at the win741.com microsite, not only are the videos stretched,  they aren’t even in a shareable format.

I applaud Windows 7 and Seth for moving into uncharted territory. I only wish I could find it and that the content that is uploaded didn’t look like it was illegally acquired!

I guess I’ll have to wait for the re-run.  Or if anyone can share,  please do!
